Telesilla of Argos stands among the most extraordinary figures of 5th‑century BC Greece, a lyric poetess whose verses to Artemis and Athena spoke of strength, spirit and renewal. Born to privilege, she turned to the Oracle of Delphi at a time of illness and found in poetry not only her voice, but a path to healing. Telesilla’s life endures as a testament to the power of words, community and fearless leadership.
The Arete Fund is initiating a series of lectures, conversations, and performances at ElaGaia In the heartland of ancient Greek civilization. We will present a variety of topics intended to enlighten and inspire and give life to individual experiences, to weave an endless fabric under the eternal shadow of Mount Artemisio.
