Telesilla Talks & Walks

“It is said that Virtue, or Arete
Has her dwelling place above high rock cliffs,
Hard to climb,
And she is not to be seen by every eye
But only by one who with sweat and determination
Climbs to the peak.”

Telesilla of Argos stands among the most extraordinary figures of 5th‑century BC Greece, a lyric poetess whose verses to Artemis and Athena spoke of strength, spirit and renewal. Born to privilege, she turned to the Oracle of Delphi at a time of illness and found in poetry not only her voice, but a path to healing. Telesilla’s life endures as a testament to the power of words, community and fearless leadership.
