Telesilla of Argos stands among the most extraordinary figures of 5th‑century BC Greece, a lyric poetess whose verses to Artemis and Athena spoke of strength, spirit and renewal. Born to privilege, she turned to the Oracle of Delphi at a time of illness and found in poetry not only her voice, but a path to healing. Telesilla’s life endures as a testament to the power of words, community and fearless leadership.

The Arete Fund is initiating a series of lectures, conversations, and performances at ElaGaia In the heartland of ancient Greek civilization. We will present a variety of topics intended to enlighten and inspire and give life to individual experiences, to weave an endless fabric under the eternal shadow of Mount Artemisio.
The Arete Fund is a charitable foundation (U.S. based) which was founded in 1997 by Dianne and Steven de Laet. It is the mission of The Arete Fund to support education locally and the arts globally to encourage greater cultural understanding by means of humanitarian, educational, and artistic projects.
