The event focused on Argos’s strategic role and everyday life during the critical years 1940–1941, through a guided tour and a lecture by Professor of Air Force History Mr. Konstantinos Lagos (PhD in History, Professor of Air Force History at the Hellenic Air Force Academy) and Mr. Pantelis Vatakis (Brigadier General, Hellenic Air Force, ret.). Using photographs and eyewitness testimony, participants learned about the Hellenic Air Force Academy’s Icarus School in the context of the Greco-Italian War, gaining a deeper understanding of how national events shaped local life and how memory is preserved in landscape and archives.
Afterwards, at ElaGaia and coordinated by Elena Triantafyllou, five actors (Nadia Daniil, Angeliki Bouloukou, Iphigenia Oikonomou, Aristogeiton Pananos, and Giannis Rousos) presented readings of monologues and letters from victims of wars. Through these narrations, connections were drawn to contemporary humanitarian tragedies, including the relatives of Greek soldiers during the German occupation and victims in Gaza.
The evening closed as a ritual of remembrance and connection: the voices of yesterday touched the wounds of today, and the program ended in emotion and reflection.
