In the Footsteps of the ‘Pyramid’: A Journey Through Time and Tradition

19 April 2026

Cultural event at Elliniko’s “Pyramid” with games, workshops, guided tours, awards, and traditional dances for all ages celebrating heritage.

With remarkable success and an impressive turnout, the cultural event “In the Footsteps of the Pyramid: A Journey Through Time and Tradition” took place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the archaeological site of the Pyramid of Hellinikon in Argolis. The event stood as a vivid example of how cultural heritage can meaningfully connect with contemporary society through collaboration and shared experience.

The initiative was part of a broader series of cultural and experiential activities and was hosted by the non-profit organization The Arete Fund (Telesilla Talks & Walks), in co-organization with the Municipality of Argos-Mycenae, the Local Community of Hellinikon, and the Kindergarten of Kefalari. This strong partnership highlighted the dynamic cooperation between local government, education, and civil society, creating a rich and multidimensional experience for all participants.

Held on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites (World Heritage Day), the event offered a diverse and engaging program for all ages. A central highlight was the experiential activities designed for children, developed under the scientific and pedagogical guidance of Ms. Konstantina Katsouda, Head of the Kindergarten of Kefalari. Through interactive exploration games, riddles, treasure hunts, and creative workshops inspired by the monument, young participants were introduced to history in an enjoyable and meaningful way.

At the same time, adult visitors had the opportunity to take part in guided tours of the site, led by archaeologists Konstantina Varela and Adrianos Psychas. Through their presentations, visitors gained insight into the history, theories, and cultural significance of the monument, discovering lesser-known aspects of this unique archaeological landmark.

The event was honored by the presence of representatives from political and local authorities, underlining the importance of such initiatives in promoting regional heritage. Special mention is due to Mr. Panagiotis Kapetanios, President of the Local Community of Hellinikon, for his continuous support and dedication to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the area.

The program also included honorary recognitions for participating organizations and concluded with a vibrant performance of traditional dances by local cultural associations. The Lyceum of Greek Women of Argos – Koutsopodi Branch, along with the “Elliniki Paradosi Argos” Cultural Association, offered a moving finale, where traditional music and folk dances resonated beautifully within the historic landscape, bridging past and present.

Open access to the public ensured inclusivity and broad participation, transforming the event into a true celebration of culture.

Special thanks are extended to all sponsors and supporters who contributed to the successful realization of the event. The Municipality of Argos-Mycenae for providing technical equipment, Dianne Tittle de Laet and Steve de Laet (The Arete Fund) for their financial support, the volunteers of the Hellenic Red Cross – Argos Regional Department for their invaluable presence, and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Argolis for granting permission to use the archaeological site.

Additional thanks go to the family tavern “Kali Kardia” and Vasileiou Estate Catering for their generous offering of food, beverages, and hospitality equipment.
