The event featured a hands-on workshop hosted in the distinctive setting of ElaGaia, a space deeply connected to nature, stillness, and the spirit of collective experience. Far more than a simple venue, ElaGaia became an active and defining presence within the workshop itself, as its atmosphere of openness and natural harmony enhanced participants’ connection to sound, rhythm, and cultural memory.
The Karya Association guided participants through short historical introductions and practical sessions, offering a vivid and accessible entry into Greek musical heritage. The experience focused on traditional instruments such as the lyre, the aulos, and hand percussion, presented in an interactive way that allowed participants to engage directly with their form, sound, and cultural significance.
Within the serene natural environment of ElaGaia, learning became an embodied experience: participants listened, experimented, and ultimately played their first musical notes, discovering the joy of making music together. The setting itself functioned as a living framework of inspiration, where nature, sound, and human presence were seamlessly intertwined.
Designed for beginners, families, and participants of all ages, the workshop at ElaGaia offered a meaningful first encounter with Greek musical tradition. Those present left with a deeper appreciation of the region’s cultural heritage, as well as the understanding that tradition remains alive when it is experienced through participation, hands-on learning, and shared creative expression.
